New Years Railfanning 1/1/2012 Temple, Tx

After catching the Texas Eagle with the Heritage consist, i stuck around town to see what would show up.  I had pretty decent day considering i wasnt going to stick around after amtrak.

BNSF 4981 comes out of temple yard and will start to head south towards galveston.  M-TplGat

crossing 3rd street

BNSF 8011, which has been on local out of Temple for some time, heads out with the galveston bound train.  interestingly still carries original BN #.
Consist passing old grain silo.  A CSXT ac44 is also included in the consist.

After nailing this train, I caught Amtrak with the heritage locos and cars in tow.  After that, i heard DS112 talk to BNSF 7919 Sb holding at Temple siding for a new crew.  Finally, got crewed up and headed south toward fuel pad at knowd.

last train of the day, wb onto the Lampasas subdivision.  I will follow this train to Nolanville.
seen just passing Opal Jct
Last shot of the train is at Nolanville, just East of Killeen.

After this, I continued on home.  Not bad for just going to shoot amtrak.

New years day---Amtrak heritages visit Central Tx.

Well after getting word from trainorders.com that the heritage consist was heading for Fort worth, I decidded that i would head to Temple in order to catch this.  I have yet to see a heritage amtrak loco so this was a cool catch.  Saw some BNSF action to make it worth my trip besides Amtrak.  Enjoy'

A trip to Corpus Christi in 1997

When I was about 11, I went down to my aunts house in rockport tx to spend the summer with her.  Fortunately, the tracks were not too far away from her house so we frequented the tracks alot.  Unfortunately, this is a very slow branch from Gregory to Aransas Pass.  Back when I visited, the Degusa Carbon Black plant was still in full operation. Here are some pictures from my trip.
